Treat fatty liver naturally at home with herbs, diet & home remedies





Accumulation of fat in liver to more than 5 – 10 % of the total liver composition is known as fatty liver. Liver is the center of metabolism of the food we eat. Fatty liver occurs when there is excess production of fat cells and it may not necessarily be a result of increased fat consumption.

There are two types of fatty liver namely, Alcoholic fatty liver disease and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. In both these cases, there occurs deposition of fat in the liver cells making it fatty.

CAUSES OF NON-ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE

While alcohol consumption is a major factor for the development of this conditions, there are other problems that also result in steatosis.

Type – 2 Diabetes
Obesity
Raised triglyceride levels
Many drugs such as tetracycline, aspirin etc.
Pregnancy
Toxins
Viruses like hepatitis A
Malnutrition

DIAGNOSING OF FATTY LIVER

While there are no suggestive symptoms in general, the patient usually complains of fatigue, loss of appetite, yellow pigmentation of the skin etc. Confirmatory diagnosis is only achieved through blood tests and ultrasonography.

Although fatty liver is a very mild disorder that goes away by itself with dietary and lifestyle modifications. Most of the times it remains harmless without causing any damage to the person.

In patients of serious disorders, regular monitoring of the liver may be required.

HERBS FOR FATTY LIVER

Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most valued herb in the Ayurvedic treatment practices. It is a great herbal medicine that has very potent anti-inflammatory properties. It has a very strong anti-oxidant effect on the liver and helps free it of all kinds of fat deposits. It is a natural cleanser that helps in rejuvenation of the liver cells.

Licorice

It is also known as “mulethi” and is a great herb for patients of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. It is a natural blood purifier that manages the elevated liver enzymes. It can be consumed in powder form with water every day for better relief.

Phyllanthus niruri

It helps in the regeneration of liver cells and eliminate toxins from the body. It has a secretory effect on the liver and helps to normalize fat metabolism. Echinacea

COMMON DIET AND HOME REMEDIES FOR FATTY LIVER

Consume one to two teaspoon full of flax seeds every day.
Drink plenty of water to flush out the excess fat that has deposited in the liver.
Stop alcohol and smoking totally.
Increase the percentage of green, leafy vegetables in diet. Carrots, Cabbage, Broccoli, onion, garlic are some of the better options.
Exercise regularly, yoga, aerobics, brisk walking done on a daily basis can help improve the condition.
Keep a check on the fat content in the food you take. Consume healthy fat options like vegetable oils, avocado oil, olive oil etc.
Get yourself regularly checked by a physician. It will help you in diagnosing this condition which does not have many diagnostic features as such.
Fresh ripened tomatoes can be consumed regularly in diet on a daily basis.
Papaya and pineapples are rich in fibers that help cleanse the gut and detoxify the body, a much needed cleansing for fatty liver patients.
Vitamin C rich fruits like Lemon, Oranges, kiwi etc. are great for reviving liver cells. They are natural antioxidants and regulate fat metabolism.
Avoid junk food, fried, processed and packaged food completely.
Consume whole grains and fresh food, have ample food but do not over eat.
Mange your disease like diabetes or obesity or any other factor that affects the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Apple cider vinegar can be consumed in the dose of 1 teaspoon full twice daily before meals. It can be mixed with a glass of water and consumed.
